Scottsdale Greenbelt
In a heavily car-dominated city, there is still the opportunity to go outside, get some sun, and experience it on foot. A paved path called the "Greenbelt" runs through a majority of the city, curving around several small lakes, under legitimate trees (a rarity in the desert), and even runs by some restaurants for a casual lunch. It runs for miles, all the way from Shea and the 101 to Tempe Town Lake. It amazes me how few people know about it, actually.
And because it's paved, it's perfect for all kinds of wheels: bikes, longboards, roller blades, scooters, even strollers. I usually use roller blades.
Access: I usually begin at Mountain View Park, but you can jump on it at a lot of different spots. It begins at Mountain View Park, on the south side, weaves a bit, and mostly stays on the west side of Haydn Road. It ends (or begins, depending on your perspective) at Tempe Town Lake on the north side.
