Oregon Badlands Expedition

Just 25 minutes east of Bend lies the Oregon Badlands Wilderness, 30,000 acres of high desert. The terrain contains scattered ancient juniper trees and igneous sediment. We encountered many lava flows during our 4 day trip.

For some reason, unknown to me, hardly anyone knows about this area, and consequently, we were the only people at the trailhead. The badlands represent a truly wild experience, and bring the desert closer to home, as it is only a 3.5 hour drive from Medford.
