Northern Italy

Yet another example of weekend sightseeing: Milan and Lake Como.
This past weekend I flew to Milan with 4 other IAU students to see the city, but mostly eat the food. I love Italy, it's the "breath of fresh air" feeling I get when I leave France.
Along with exploring the center and side streets of Milan, we took the regional train to Lake Como where we walked along the villa'd lake and then up a hill behind the town to the ruins of Castello Baradello, which was built by Frederic Barbarosa, first emperor of the holy (german) empire in 1159. Northern Italian history is so interesting! Years later, the Swiss Canton of Ticino would relinquish Como to the unification of the provinces of Italy.
