I will be writing on my travels in Iceland next week as I backpack through Skaftafell National Park, explore the southern coast, and study the cultural heritage of Reykjavik. Look for pictures on Render the Adventure sometime next week.
I've always wanted to go to the arctic circle, and.... this is pretty close.
I'm really looking forward to "using" my passport again - getting it stamped and all that. It's been awhile. The problem is, once you spend months abroad, it's hard to stay in the U.S. without leaving again. So, this fall break trip is perfect timing.
Trip Outline:
Day 1 - arrive @ reykjavik super early in the morning, rent car, drive to Skaftafell NP for some glacier/volcano hiking (no worries, the volcano(s) is currently inactive)
Day 2 - Explore southern coast, Reykjavik
Day 3 - Drysuit Snorkel - fjords
Day 4 - Bike tour
Day 5 - TBD
Day 6 - Geothermal hot springs
Day 7 - Return

Background info:
I was super excited to find out that my friend Hannah Claytor was traveling to iceland on fall break for 7 days. I asked her if she would take a travelling buddy, and quickly purchased my Iceland Air tickets. Flying out of Washington-Dulles makes the last minute purchase VERY reasonably priced.
